Why generic counters miscount Arabic
Tools that split on spaces stumble on tashkeel, tatweel, and punctuation like ؟ and ،. This counter uses Unicode letter classes, so a fully vowelled word counts as one word, and the Arabic question mark ends a sentence like its Latin cousin.
